Walking the last few hours of 2012, and the first few minutes of 2013, at Atlantic Avenue’s First Night…

with some very tall people,

and little ones, (I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be noodles as giant tinker toys, but turned into one enormous noodle fight)…
on a bubble-wrap side street,
with bubble-filled air.
There was R & B,
 Spanish guitar,
and dancing on the double yellow line,
and at intersections.
Street eating,
window shopping,

and a lot of falling down on plastic ice.

And lights,

and even more lights.
Happy New Year Everyone!

I have always love your town, especially during festivals. This post makes me smile :):) One time, I laughed out loud when I watched the fireworks :).

I have had a very peaceful New Year, ending with a barbecue dinner with everyone in the house. Being here is like taking a walk after dinner, a lovely boisterous ending to my holidays :). You can say I ended it with a bang! 🙂

Thank you Amy for everything we share in the past year!

I enjoy so much the sight of your city,I love how you present it to us and I love the people, the fun, that bubble walk is wonderful, the lights.
It is like being in fairy land, here it is cold and dreary and due to crisis nothing has been done on the streets and squares :o(
Thank you for sharing all this with us, as well as part of your life along this year. You have made me way richer.
    Best wishes,Rosanna
PS my Eve was spent dancing tango, not as glamourous as your fireworks but still fun

Amy, it must be Magical to be outside in a Mild climate where the whole world takes to the streets in Happy and Heartfelt Celebration! I am sure you remember the options up North…. Stomp your feet, rub your nose and shiver outside… or enjoy from the warmth of an Indoor venue! We chose the latter, my boys and I… and even tried to find the “better” channel for seeing the Ball Drop…!
But it was the being together that was special and heart-warming!
Happy New Year to you and your Mom, your brother and his wife and your Father in Spirit! (That Luminaria is Such a Sweet Idea!)
I hope we will have Many years of Mutual Celebrations… whether Virtual or RL, it is Wonderful to know you are out there …. Looking closer… and bringing us along!
    Thank you!

The best thing about the new year is that I will get to spend part of it in the beautiful, imaginative, creative, magical worlds that you share with me. Before I started blogging I assumed it was, in a strange way, a self-contained kind of process, a little like sending your words and pictures out into the world in a bubble. But you three have completely turned me around, with your generosity, your open hearts. Thank you for being true friends to me.
